Using Color maps/Palette editor from Fractint

I am not a programmer, have been playing with Fractint since 1989. Started using Chaoscope 4/5/11. Strange things have been happening to file names in Fractint for Windows since using Chaoscope. All the color map files have been renamed in types of files column. Have not used Fractint for Windows since trying Chaoscope... Bottom line is this.... Can I use the color map files from Fractint in Chaoscope? (Going to backup computer files as soon as I get done writing this and try moving fractint maps to chaoscope map folder and try it.) The count/amount of different in maps from the DOS version and the Windows version. In case I mess up with these, has anyone else tried this before?
The Palette editor might be a way some folks may want to try rather than number groups.
Wonder what the color cycling will be like for images created in Chaoscope and moved to DOS Fractint....
